"Not one sparrow falls to the ground without God's consent.
As for you, every hair on your head has been counted.
So, fear not, you are worth more than many sparrows."

    Jesus Christ, Gospel of Matthew

We yearn to be touched as we have never been touched
To embrace something beyond what we have ever embraced
In that moment you desire God
We yearn to be touched as we have never been touched
To embrace something beyond what we have ever embraced
In that moment you desire God

But:
I'm just a speck of dust

God made us out of the dust and breathed his life into us. He knew each one of us before we were formed in the womb. We are, says ancient wisdom, "fearfully and wonderfully made".

We can't possibly know all the pain and suffering in this world, nor understand all the reasons. But we do need to grasp God's extreme love for us. A love that does not depend on how we look or perform or fit into some system.

God is so extreme that when He came to earth the religious leaders of the day plotted against him to kill Him. He did not fit their system at all.

God is so perfect that our best always falls short of His standard - we cannot approach His perfection. Indeed, we often don't attain our own standards: we say we want fairness, yet which one of us is always fair?

But He is so passionate in his love for us that He suffered with us and died an agonising and humiliating death.

To show solidarity yes. So that He could understand, yes. And to bridge that gap between God and us.

But:
Jesus is a myth

He came down and took all our pain and suffering upon Himself so that He could win the victory for us over the flesh and death that we cannot win ourselves, so that we could know his love for us.
This victory and love - His bridge to us - is available to each one of us.

But:
Jesus was just a good person

Cross His bridge to us

Cry out to God?
